Aston Villa 4-1 Newcastle Highlights
triker John Carew scored a hat-trick to help Aston Villa fight back from a goal down to beat Newcastle.
The visitors took an early lead thanks to Michael Owen whose deflected header beat Scott Carson at the near post.
Defender Wilfred Bouma equalised for Villa with a low shot from 20 yards before Carew grabbed his first with a header from Ashley Young’s corner.
Carew nodded in to make it 3-1 before he scored his third from the spot following Stephen Carr’s handball. The victory was a thoroughly deserved one for Martin O’Neill’s side who ended their run of three games without a win in emphatic fashion, while opposite number Kevin Keegan was left wondering where and when his first win would arrive following a shambolic collapse. It started well for KK when Owen gave the Magpies the lead, eluding his markers to head the ball, with the aid of a deflection from Gareth Barry, past Scott Carson.
