Head-to-head

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 11 league games against Blackburn, conceding only two goals (W9, D2), and have lost just one of their last 17 meetings in the top flight.

The only league goals Rovers have scored against Chelsea since May 2006 were by El-Hadji Diouf (21/03/10) and Benjani (30/10/10).

This is the 102nd league meeting of these clubs. Chelsea lead by 42 wins to 32.

Chelsea

Finishing sixth is their lowest league placing since 2001-02, when they also ended up in sixth.

Chelsea have lost 10 league matches this season. The last time they lost 10 or more was in the 2000-01 campaign when they were defeated 11 times.

They have not beaten Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool this season (two draws, four defeats).
The defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday equalled the biggest ever losing margin for Chelsea in the Premier League since Roman Abramovich bought the club in June 2003.

Blackburn

This is the second time Blackburn have been relegated since their league winning season in 1994-95.

This is the first time since the 1978-79 season that Rovers will end the season with under 35 points.
Paul Robinson has posted the lowest saves to shots ratio (57 per cent) in the Premier League this season (top-flight average is 69%).

Only one player, Andy Johnson in 2004-05, has ever scored more Premier League goals for a relegated side than Yakubu’s 16 this season.

Blackburn’s 47 league goals is as many as seventh-placed Everton and eighth-placed Liverpool have managed.

One would think Chelsea will win this match with comfort as Blackburn Rovers are already relegated, but Yakubu and Junior Hoilett will be a threat … as I assume they’re getting the hell out of that team.
