Head-to-head

Everton Vs Aston VillaEverton are unbeaten in the last seven meetings and have lost only one of their last 11 Premier League fixtures against Aston Villa (W3, D7, L1). They could win three in a row against Villa for the first time in the top flight since 1986-87.

Everton

Everton have only earned one point at home this season, fewer than any other Premier League team. They could lose three league matches in a row at Goodison Park for the first time since August-September 2008.

They have the worst defensive record in the division, with 16 goals conceded in seven matches. It is 56 years since they last let in more goals (21) in the opening seven matches.

However, they have scored in each of their last nine league fixtures – the best current run in the top flight.

The Toffees have dropped a league-high seven points from winning positions this season.

Leighton Baines has provided three goal assists and created 16 goalscoring chances, the highest tallies by a Premier League defender this season.

Aston Villa

Villa have lost three successive Premier League matches without scoring a single goal. They last suffered four straight league defeats without registering a goal between December 2000 and January 2001.

The Villans have only had 10 shots on target in their seven league games so far this season, 11 fewer than anyone else. Sergio Aguero (12) and Diego Costa (16) have managed more on their own than the entire Villa team.

They have scored four goals from their opening seven top-flight matches – their joint-worst such record at this stage, along with 1979-80. They failed to score in their eighth game that season too.

Villa have won 32% of matches with Ron Vlaar in the side since he joined the club in 2012 compared to 14% of games without him (three wins in 21 matches).

Paul Lambert has never won a Premier League game against a side managed by Roberto Martinez (D3, L3).

Gabriel Agbonlahor has scored seven Premier League goals against Everton, more than versus any other side.
