QPR 2-2 Stoke City Highlights

A superb Niko Kranjcar free-kick rescued Queens Park Rangers from defeat against Stoke City at Loftus Road.

Peter Crouch set up Mame Biram Diouf’s easy header for the opening goal before Steven Caulker headed home at the far post to level before the break.

Crouch’s first-time strike seemed to have secured victory for Stoke.

But Kranjcar stepped up two minutes before the end and sublimely found the top corner to secure a valuable draw.

Venue: Loftus Road
Date: Saturday, 20 September, 2014
Kick off: 12:45 GMT

Head-to-head

The two clubs have each won twice in four previous Premier League meetings. The R’s did the double over Stoke during the 2011-12 season, with the Potters achieving that feat the following campaign. Hughes was in charge of QPR for two of those matches, winning one and losing the other.

Stoke have only won three of 17 league and cup trips to Loftus Road (D4, L10), although two of those wins have come in their last five visits.

QPR

QPR’s only goal so far this season came in their last home game, a 1-0 win over Sunderland. It’s the only time in five league and cup matches that they have not lost.

Despite promotion last season, the R’s scored only 60 Championship goals, just the equal-12th best record.

Charlie Austin has scored 11 goals in his last 13 appearances at Loftus Road, including the play-offs.

Harry Redknapp’s side have a goal difference of minus eight, the worst in the division.

Stoke

Stoke are unbeaten in their last four away games. This season they have won 1-0 at Manchester City and drawn 1-1 at Hull.

Three of Stoke’s four 2014-15 fixtures have ended 1-0, the Potters winning one and losing the other two.

Stoke, who have scored just twice so far, are yet to find the net in the first half.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has been required to make only three saves in his four league appearances.

Mark Hughes managed QPR for 30 Premier League games between January-November 2012 before being sacked (W6, D6, L18).
