Date: Sunday, 25 November
Kick off: 15:00 GMT.

Head-to-head

This is the first meeting between the two sides since an FA Cup fifth-round tie in February 2006, which Newcastle won 1-0.

Newcastle are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions against the Saints (W6, D2).
Alan Pardew returns to the club he managed between July 2009 and August 2010.

Southampton

Southampton have conceded 30 Premier League goals this season – seven more than QPR who have the second-worst defensive record in the division.

However, 19th-placed Saints have scored 18 league goals, more than any of the eight teams who sit directly above them in the Premier League.

Saints have had 10 different scorers in the Premier League this season; only Manchester United (13) and Chelsea (11) can boast more.

Nigel Adkins’s side are the only team without a clean sheet in the Premier League this season.

Their tally of eight points from 12 games is the same as they had at the same stage of their last Premier League season in 2004-05.

Newcastle United

Newcastle have won just one of their last seven Premier League games (W1, D3, L3) since Alan Pardew was awarded a new eight-year contract.

The Magpies are without an away league win this season (D4, L1).

They are looking to avoid suffering three consecutive Premier League defeats for the first time since September 2008 when they lost four straight games.

Pardew’s side have had just four different scorers in the Premier League this season – equal fewest with Sunderland and Stoke.

Demba Ba has scored eight Premier League goals this season, the same number as Robin van Persie. Only Luis Suarez (10) has scored more.
