• This is their fourth meeting this season. Stoke won their home Premier League fixture 1-0, courtesy of a Jonathan Walters spot kick, and the sides played out a goalless draw at Anfield. In between, the Reds knocked the Potters out of the Carling Cup.

• Liverpool have also had a clean sweep of victories in the FA Cup, winning all four ties between 1900 and 1988. The Potters did not score a single goal in the six matches involved.
