Head-to-head

Chelsea have never lost to Leeds in cup competition, managing seven wins and four draws.

The last meeting between these clubs at Elland Road was a Premier League fixture nine years ago. It ended 1-1, keeping Chelsea top of the table and moving Leeds off the bottom.

Leeds United

Leeds are making their first appearance in the quarter-finals since finishing runners-up in 1995-96.

They have qualified for the semi-finals on five of the six previous occasions they have reached the fifth round.

This is their sixth successive home League Cup tie, and their 11th in 12 rounds.

Shrewsbury, Oxford United, and Premier League clubs Everton and Southampton have all been knocked out at Elland Road on this current run.

Leeds have conceded just one goal in the competition this season.

Chelsea

Chelsea have made the quarter-finals for the third time in four seasons, but lost at this stage in the previous two attempts. They lost to Blackburn in 2009 and to Liverpool last season.

The Blues won the League Cup for the fourth time in 2007. Only Liverpool (eight) and Aston Villa (five) have won the competition more often.

Chelsea have scored a total of 11 goals in eliminating Wolves and Manchester United in their previous League Cup ties this season.

They were last knocked out by Championship opposition in November 2008, when Burnley inflicted a fourth-round defeat on penalties.
