Head-to-head

Liverpool failed to score in both of last season’s Premier League meetings with Swansea, drawing 0-0 at Anfield and losing 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans’ last cup game at Anfield was an FA Cup third round tie in January 1990 which they lost 8-0.

Liverpool

The holders are the most successful club in League Cup history.

The Reds have been eight-times winners (1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1995, 2001, 2003 and 2012) and three-times runners-up (1978, 1987 and 2005).

This is the first time they have been drawn at home since losing to League Two Northampton in the third round in September 2010.

They have found the net in each of their last 13 League Cup outings, and in 45 of 46.

Swansea

The Swans are hoping to reach the League Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

They have scored three goals in six of their last nine League cup matches.

This is their sixth away tie in seven League Cup rounds.
