The teams’ only previous cup meeting came back in 1983 in the first round of the FA Cup. After an initial 0-0 draw, Wigan won the replay 4-2.

Bradford and Wigan last met in the 2003-04 season in League One. The Latics won 1-0 at home before drawing 0-0 at Valley Parade.

Wigan are aiming to reach the quarter-finals for the second time in three seasons.

The Latics have reached the last eight on three occasions, and have only progressed beyond that once, in 2005-06 when they finished runners-up to Manchester United.

Wigan have been knocked out by lower-league opposition in five of the last eight years, including League One Crewe in the second round in 2006, and League Two Grimsby in the first round in August 2004.

This is the first time Bradford have progressed beyond the first two rounds in 11 seasons.

The Bantams have not appeared in the fourth round since 1988-89, when they reached the quarter-finals for the second successive season, and the third time in their history.

Bradford last ousted a Premier League club from the League Cup in September 1995, when they beat Nottingham Forest over two legs in the second round.

This is their 150th League Cup match (W56, D34, L59).
