Leicester City 2-2 Everton Highlights

Substitute Chris Wood struck late to deny Everton and earn Leicester City a point in their first Premier League match in a decade.

The striker slotted past Tim Howard with five minutes to go as the promoted side twice fought back from behind.

Aiden McGeady’s curled effort had been instantly wiped out by home debutant Leonardo Ulloa before Steven Naismith finished smartly on half-time.

Everton looked comfortable, but Wood – linked with a move away – pounced.

Leicester City

This is Leicester City’s first Premier League fixture since they were relegated in 2004.

They have failed to win any of their last five Premier League matches on the opening weekend (D3, L2).

The Foxes had the best home record in the Championship last season, winning 17 of their 23 fixtures and only losing twice. They also averaged two goals per game at the King Power Stadium.

They also boasted the division’s best record when scoring the opening goal, winning 27 games, drawing three and losing just once.

Leicester set two club records between December 2013 and February 2014: nine successive league wins and five straight away victories.

They led the Championship table from Boxing Day onwards and their final tally of 102 points was also a club record.

The Toffees have only won three of their last 11 opening-day fixtures (D1, L7).

They have won four of their last five Premier League away matches

Everton only conceded 39 league goals last season – only Chelsea and Manchester City had a better defensive record.

Leighton Baines (49) and Seamus Coleman (45) created more goalscoring chances than any other defenders in the Premier League last season.
