Head-to-head

This will be the fifth league meeting between the two clubs; Liverpool have three wins and Reading one victory from the previous four games.

Reading won their last visit to Anfield 2-1 after extra-time in an FA Cup third-round replay in January 2010.

Liverpool have scored in all eight of their previous games against Reading in all competitions.

Liverpool

Liverpool have won just two of 13 home league games in 2012, drawing five and losing six.

The Reds have failed to win any of their previous four home league matches, equalling their worst start to a top-flight season of 1894 and 1911.

Luis Suarez has scored only three league goals at Anfield in 2012 – the same total as Robin van Persie. Suarez has scored double that amount at Carrow Road.

Only Sunderland (2) and QPR (1) have scored fewer home Premier League goals than Liverpool (3) this season.

Brendan Rodgers managed Reading between July and December 2009. He was in charge for 21 league games (W5 D6 L10).

Reading

Reading are still looking for their first league win of the season. This is their worst start to a top-flight campaign.

The Royals are one of two teams yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season – the other is Southampton.

They have won two of their last 23 away games in the top flight.

Reading are one short of 200 league goals under Brian McDermott since he took over from Brendan Rodgers.

Noel Hunt has scored in each of their last two Premier League matches. The last Reading player to score in three successive Premier League games was his brother, Stephen, in December 2007.
