Newcastle 2-2 Hull City Highlights

Pappis Cisse came off the bench to score twice as Newcastle came back from behind to earn a dramatic draw against Hull, giving under fire manager Alan Pardew hope of a St James’ Park future.

The hosts fell behind to a wonderful acrobatic Nikica Jelavic volley and a brilliant Mohamed Diame strike.

With boos echoing around the stadium, Cisse halved the deficit by beating Allan McGregor at his near post.

And the striker saved his team from defeat by firing home from six yards.

Venue: St James’ Park
Date: Saturday, 20 September, 2014
Kick off: 15:00 GMT

Hull have won their previous three league matches at St James’ Park. Newcastle’s last victory was in March 1990 in the old Division Two.

Last season, Hull twice came from a goal down to win 3-2 courtesy of Sone Aluko’s winner on 21 September.

None of the last six competitive meetings between these sides have ended as a home win – there have been four away wins and two draws.

Newcastle United

Newcastle have taken just five points from the last 36 on offer (W1, D2, L9).

The Magpies have lost seven times at home in the Premier League in 2014, more than any other team.

They have won just once in their last six matches at St James’ Park.
Alan Pardew’s side have lost 3-0 or 4-0 eight times in their last 19 league matches.

Among the six managers to oversee more than 50 Premier League matches for Newcastle, only Graeme Souness (1.16 from 56 matches) had a worse points-per-match average than Pardew (1.31 from 140 matches).

They are yet to have a player caught offside this season.

Hull City

Hull have, like Newcastle, only won one of their last nine Premier League games.
Steve Bruce’s side have kept a clean sheet just once during that run.

Their only Premier League away win in the last seven attempts came against QPR on the opening day of this season.

Hull only won three league matches away from home last season – and two of them were in the North East. They beat Newcastle 3-2 and Sunderland 2-0.
