Reading 2-0 Man City Highlights

Reading climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone after beating Manchester City thanks to goals from Shane Long and Dave Kitson.

The visitors’ best chance fell to Vedran Corluka, who failed to convert Elano’s free-kick from close-range.

City also felt they should have had a penalty for a foul on Michael Johnson.

But Andre Bikey hit the bar for Reading before Long met Kevin Doyle’s cross to break the deadlock – and Kitson’s fine solo goal sealed the Royals’ victory.

City’s defeat is another blow to their fading hopes of securing a Uefa Cup place but boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has other worries.

He lost Richard Dunne to a nasty looking knee injury on the half-hour mark, and he will await news of his captain with urgency.

Dunne’s exit, which came after an innocuous collision with Stephen Hunt, meant City’s already makeshift defence had to reorganise further.

City still created the best chance of the first half, however, and Corluka will be kicking himself for missing it.
