EPL Summary – September 22nd 2013

Man City Vs Man Utd

Sergio Aguero scored twice as new Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini engineered an emphatic win over his Manchester United counterpart David Moyes in both managers’ first derbies.

The result had echoes of City’s famous 6-1 win over United two years ago as Aguero volleyed in early on and Yaya Toure poked in before half-time.

Two volleys in three minutes from Aguero and Samir Nasri sealed it.

Wayne Rooney’s late free-kick earned a consolation for United.

Arsenal Vs Stoke

Mesut Ozil had a hand in all three Arsenal goals as they chalked up their seventh consecutive victory by comfortably beating Stoke.

Crystal Palace Vs Swansea

Swansea striker Michu produced a fine individual performance to inspire his side to a confident Premier League win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Cardiff Vs Tottenham

Paulinho’s stoppage-time winner for Tottenham settled a tense encounter against Cardiff to lift Spurs into second place in the Premier League.

Bluebirds goalkeeper David Marshall produced a series of outstanding saves to keep the Londoners at bay.

But the Brazilian back-heeled in Erik Lamela’s low cross right at the death.

It was nothing more than Andre Villas-Boas’ side deserved after dominating for long periods against Malky Mackay’s dogged side.
