Pep Guardiola has undergone back surgery and will be absent for Manchester City until after the international break next month.

The club confirmed on Tuesday that the Spaniard has been suffering with “severe back pain for some time” and flew out to Barcelona for an emergency procedure.

The surgery at the Hospital Quiron in the city was a success, the club say, and Guardiola will now recover back in Spain.

    Pep Guardiola GREAT!

Pep Guardiola has proven that he can tackle different leagues across Europe and create teams that know how to challenge for Europe’s elite trophies.

His rivalry against fellow elite coach Jurgen Klopp has turned the English Premier League into one of the world’s most exciting and most watched leagues. Pep said back in 2019 that European football was like gambling all of your money in the casino in seven games. But maybe Pep has changed his tune since Manchester City is the resounding gambling favorite for this year’s Champions League.

Pep Guardiola has already proven he is a more esteemed and resilient coach than his German counterpart, whose Liverpool side has fallen by the wayside this year. They ran Manchester City right to the final day last season, and at one stage, when Villa were 2-0 up at the Etihad, it looked like Liverpool could win the league.

However, following an immense comeback spearheaded by the unbelievable Turkish maestro Ilkay Gundogan, Pep made it four league titles with Manchester City, with another one on its way, as regular as clockwork, is 2023 City their greatest squad?
